Recorded in October 2024 at Studio Artmusic by Sébastien Camhi, Fast Is Nice is in fact one of the oldest songs in the band’s repertoire. Long in the making, it found its final shape during pre-production, between the energy of the 70s and the alternative punch of the 90s. The aim: to bring the efficiency of pop culture and anthemic choruses into demanding classic rock, driven by a relentless rhythm that never lets the listener go.

The lyrics explore adolescence and the passage into adulthood: anxiety about time running out (“the clock is runnin’ out”), the refusal to be paralysed by indecision (“floating in indecisiveness”) and the choice to let the heart catch fire (“til my heart turns into a bonfire”). Up against the eternal motherly warning (“mama said, mama said”), and after a liberating instrumental funk section, the character finally takes control of his destiny: “just live as you want it’s your life son you’re warned”.

The video, entirely conceived, shot and edited by singer Fabien Gattus, was filmed on the Route du Sel in Hyères. In DIY mode, the band plays on deliberate offbeat humour with an old-school car chase full of nods to retro pop culture, from madcap 70s road movies such as Cannonball to the cult cartoon Wacky Races: a light, ironic counterpoint to the tension of the lyrics. The band even made a radio edit of the song especially for the video.

A nine-track album recorded and mixed by Sébastien Camhi at Studio Artmusic and mastered by Kai Stahlenberg at Kohlekeller Studio, No Rest for the Wicked has been out since 25 September 2026.

About the band

Formed in Toulon in 2022, Wicked Elephant Revival (W.E.R.) brings together five lovers of vintage culture around a modern classic rock with many influences, going back to the roots of 70s to 90s music. Led by Fabien Gattus (Gattus, Iron Harlot, The Clearwater Sons), the quintet follows in the footsteps of Aerosmith, The Black Crowes and Rival Sons, and pays tribute to Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd while asserting its own identity. After a critically acclaimed four-track debut EP, Mojo Rising (2025), the band’s first album No Rest for the Wicked tells the initiatory journey of the Wicked Elephant, an allegory of existence.

Wicked Elephant Revival are Fabien Gattus (vocals), Sylv (guitars), Philippe Guillanton (keyboards), Julien Pontier (bass) and John Phillips (drums).
