The Krakens - Decadence (2026)

Decadence, The Krakens’ fairy tale gone wrong

The Krakens - Decadence (2026)

Written in B minor, Decadence blends powerful riffs with a catchy melody and a chorus made for singing along. The music was written by Phil, the band’s lead guitarist and main composer, and the lyrics by Glyn, its singer and founder.

With plenty of self-mockery, the lyrics tell of a fairy tale that goes off the rails: two princesses leave the castle, a Grumpy follows them, and the Kraken realises he was never chained up, just in the wrong company. Behind the story lies a real line-up change, which the band chose to take with a smile. A song for turning the page, to be played loud but with no hard feelings, aimed at hard rock and metal fans as well as anyone who loves stories with a happy ending.

The track appears on the band’s debut EP, six original songs (Kraken, Decadence, Song Of Resilience, Hotel Gate, Pray The Lord and Samurai).

About the band

Founded in Lyon in January 2019 by singer Glyn, The Krakens were born from a simple conviction: rock isn’t dead, it just needs waking up. Starting out reworking covers, from Metallica to AC/DC by way of Iron Maiden, they moved towards an assertive metal sound. The arrival of lead guitarist and composer Phil in February 2022 was the decisive turning point, and Croatian bassist Ned joined in September 2025. In May 2026, with six original songs ready, they went into the studio to record their debut EP.

The Krakens are Glyn (vocals), Phil (lead guitar), Ned (bass) and Bob (drums).
