The Creature From Lac Kir - Le Champ du Diable (2026)
It all starts with a very real place: the Portes du Diable (“Devil’s Gates”), near Dijon, surrounded by legends, superstitions and folk beliefs that have earned them a cursed reputation. Le Champ du Diable (“The Devil’s Field”) tells of a strange outing there on a full-moon night, when the setting suddenly tips into an old horror film. Under a pallid light, shadows come to life, and iconic figures of fantasy cinema, from Vampirella to Blacula, seem to roam the area. As the night goes on, the mystery thickens and blood runs cold, until the lines between reality, hallucination and nightmare blur.
With this song, The Creature From Lac Kir bring a local legend back to life by turning it into a genuine little horror B-movie. The trio draws on Burgundian folklore and the aesthetics of 1950s–70s fantasy cinema, between a fascination with monsters, fear of the unknown and a supernatural atmosphere. All of it driven by Nikko Weird’s sharp riffs and vocals, Madmonk Fuzz’s saturated bass and Spicy Mitch’s drumming: raw, hypnotic garage rock where ancestral superstitions meet the energy of rock’n’roll.
Released on streaming platforms in August 2026, with a video, Le Champ du Diable is the band’s very first single. A night-time journey between legend, chills and vintage horror cinema.
About the band
If its own legend is to be believed, The Creature From Lac Kir was born on a stormy evening. Three friends with a passion for monsters and old horror films, drawn to the mystery of Lac Kir, a lake in Dijon, are said to have held a séance by the water under a full, reddish moon. At the moment of the invocation came an icy breath, strange ripples on the surface, then a shadow rising from the depths, “as if something had just answered their call”. From that vision the band was born, as if it had itself been summoned that night.
Made up of Nikko Weird (guitar, vocals, songwriter), Spicy Mitch (drums) and Madmonk Fuzz (bass), the trio draws its inspiration from the monsters of fantasy cinema, B-movies, local legends and the raw spirit of garage rock. Between vintage horror, macabre humour and rock’n’roll energy, it brings to life a world of creatures, curses and haunted nights, somewhere between the swamp, the drive-in and Lac Kir.
