Tense of Fools - Innominatum (2026)
Innomínatum, literally “nameless” in Latin. The title sets the tone: with Tense of Fools, words don’t try to explain, they suggest. The song features a faceless figure, an anonymous science-fiction being crossing the night at the wheel of a vehicle whose course seems to be slowly slipping out of control. The road becomes a tipping point, but also a space of freedom.
“Who am I at the wheel of my own Self? A reality or a fiction?” The question is left hanging, and that is the whole point. The music carries this crossing like a waking dream, opening up images and inner spaces rather than telling a closed story. As the band puts it, Innominatum gives no answer: it leaves a door ajar.
The track appears on Jardin du Gange, the band’s debut album, ten songs running from Heptagone to How Can You See?, by way of Radioman, Promesse au Soleil and Smoking Water. The album will be available on Bandcamp in the coming days, before reaching streaming platforms from 16 October.
About the band
Tense of Fools describes itself as “foiling across the murky waters of the Ganges”, driven by a psychedelic breath. Its music is spellbinding and ever-shifting, conceived as an incantation, a call to wandering souls and dissonant thoughts, paying tribute to the dreamlike madness of those who, swept through by chaos, make their own peace. On stage, the band’s art is a trance: lyrics that fray, tongues that spin, bodies in “trans-communion”. Nothing makes sense anymore, and it is in that loss of bearings that ecstasy is born.
Five musicians, united in vertigo, sit within a raw and visceral rock: Lewis on vocals and guitar, Ronie on guitar, Alex on bass, Alexis on saxophone, percussion and backing vocals, and Elias on drums. The band has also recorded two songs for Pollen Session, Smoking and Guil.
