NUI[S]ENS - Sonic Spectrum (2026)

Sonic Spectrum, rise and fall according to NUI[S]ENS
NUI[S]ENS - Sonic Spectrum (2026)
NUI[S]ENS - Sonic Spectrum (2026)

The lyrics of Sonic Spectrum deal with our quest to build and elevate ourselves as men within society, the search for success just to exist, and the bad choices we make thinking they will take us higher. When you try too hard to rise, you sometimes forget what really matters, and the fall can be traumatic: then you have to find yourself again and rebuild to strike a balance.

The song came about in an unusual way for the band. Its foundations were laid in rehearsal, as a trio, intuitively and spontaneously: Raph on drums, Jérôme on bass and Renaud on guitar. The intro and the verse’s bass and drums then helped Renaud write the rhythm guitar for the verse and chorus, while the bridge recycles a part by Jérôme originally meant for another song. Chris added the sound textures in his home studio, where the band usually writes from guitar parts. A song born from a bass and drums jam was a first for them.

The video, directed by Bertrand Boissimon with Reims actor Henri Giey and released on 16 September 2026, follows a young man looking for his path through the violence of the world in order to become himself. The EP … And Never Be Found, five tracks mixed by Fred Lefranc and mastered by Émilie Dealemans, came out on 13 February 2026 on Araki Records.

About the band

Formed in 2021 in Reims, France, by four former members of local bands Cho Yang and Trent, NUI[S]ENS play dark alternative rock steeped in 90s American and British influences, from indie to post-rock by way of noise. The band readily name Sonic Youth, Mogwai, Soundgarden, Wovenhand, Interpol and Queens of the Stone Age. After a first EP, Stuck in a No Man’s Land (2022), and the single Fall Asleep (2024), which includes a cover of Joy Division’s New Dawn Fades, the quartet played the Rockenstock festival with The Psychotic Monks and La Cartonnerie in Reims with Ditz, among others. The stage is where they make most sense, between raw energy and melancholic atmosphere. They will enter 2027 with a new drummer.
