Written by Kaptnfull on 22 June 2023, Politiqui politiquoi is meant to be timeless, a song that has kept feeding on the country’s political life over the years. It denounces the parties’ inaction on the everyday problems of the French, and governments that promise renewal at every election that never comes, “all in a festive atmosphere reserved for a protected political class”. Hence the chorus: “Politiqui politiquoi, it’s chaos at this party, and we’re the ones who pay for it”.

The lyrics play on the absurd: a narrator who takes “a hard left turn” that leads nowhere, whom the right calls on to vote, and who goes off to “raise chickens in St Denis” when the centre wakes up. Cameras, high unemployment, a “machine to drain us dry”: it all gets a mention, right up to the closing pun on the foie gras crisis.

Kaptnfull & The Yellow Face are keen to point out that the band “doesn’t do politics and belongs to no movement”. It’s “just an awareness of our society”. Recorded at Nancy Web TV, the song has just been remixed, and the new version is out now on YouTube.

About the band

Kaptnfull & The Yellow Face, or KYF, formed in Nancy in 2012 and played their first gig in October that year at the brasserie du Sacré Cœur, a small local temple of live music. Around singer Kaptnfull, formerly Morryson, are David on bass, Philippe on drums and Frédéric on guitar, joined in 2025 by a second guitarist, Christophe. Their French-language songs, in a “sharp” pop rock blending rock, pop and reggae, deal with inequality, power, war and social issues.

A bunch of friends above all, with one motto: give the audience a good time. After a gig in Nancy on 6 June 2026 and an appearance on Nancy Web TV in September, KYF are back on stage in Nancy on 7 November for a mini-festival.
