Joseph Martone - Bright Morning Doubt (2026)
First discovered with the album Honey Birds in 2020, Joseph Martone returns with Endeavours and a world whose sound recalls Nick Cave and Calexico, under the cinematic influence of Ennio Morricone. After Lying Low, the first single, whose video played on light and shadow and on references to Sergio Leone, Bright Morning Doubt continues the journey with a new video.
Martone draws on the sounds and rhythms of his two cultures, Italy and the United States. His songs are sincere, often painful explorations of his childhood and adolescence, featuring a gallery of colourful characters who left their mark on his story. Love and pain, family and friendship, time and memories: everything revolves around a family vineyard where everything begins and everything returns, where even in the darkest moments the harvest must be brought in. A life experience that does not spare pain, but reveals beauty to those who take the time to stop.
Endeavours was recorded in Italy, at the Auditorium Novecento in Naples and Al Mare studio in Ravenna, with Fabio Rondanini (Calibro 35) on drums and Francesco Giampaoli (Hugo Race Fatalists, Sacri Cuori) on bass, and also at Studio Cimetière in Quebec. Martone wrote these new songs with his longtime friend and collaborator Ned Crowther (The Fernweh, Smokey Angle Shades). It was produced by Mike Dubue and Taylor Kirk of Canadian folk-blues band Timber Timbre, and features the voices of Rebecca Noelley and Marianna d’Ama.
Joseph Martone plays Paris on 25 November 2026, at La Dame de Canton.
