JARL - Lov’Opsy (2026)

Lov’Opsy, JARL’s macabre murder folk romance

JARL - Lov’Opsy (2026)

“Let me tell you about Matt…” Over a deceptively tender tune, the narrator of Lov’Opsy recalls her loves one by one: Matt, the childhood sweetheart with chocolate lips, Dave the angel, Chris whose eyes were so pure when he cried, and Big Ted. All of them ended up on the autopsy table, and from each she kept a piece, carefully put away. With this song, JARL fuse love and autopsy and dissect feelings with clinical precision, in the finest murder folk tradition.

The video, directed by Visual Horizon, extends this hypnotic visual and sonic dive: a dark couple played by Audrey and Alex, a morgue bathed in green light and a banjo up front. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Tarantula Records, the track perfectly captures the band’s aesthetic, both macabre and romantic.

Escape From The Dust

Unveiled in February, Lov’Opsy paved the way for Escape From The Dust, released on 6 March 2026. A record of flight, sweat and redemption, praised for its organic production and cinematic atmospheres. Since then, JARL have been roaming the stages to spread their dusty black mass: Le Trabendo in Paris opening for Shawn James, a release party at La Gare aux Musiques in Louviers (see Gunslinger live) and the Les Barons du Son festival in June. Next stop: 24 October at La Traverse (Cléon), opening for Robert Jon & The Wreck.

About the band

Somewhere between the dust of an American desert, the flickering neon of a roadside motel and the sweaty tension of a Coen brothers or Quentin Tarantino thriller, JARL write the soundtrack to a film noir that doesn’t exist yet. The five-piece fuses the raw energy of alternative rock with the darkness of dark folk and murder folk, telling stories of trouble, wide open spaces and closed doors, peopled with shady, charismatic figures. Among their influences: Amigo The Devil, Sixteen Horsepower, Nick Cave, Bridge City Sinners, Colter Wall, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club and The Handsome Family.

Built around Cédric (vocals, guitars, banjo), Reedoo (guitars), Mathieu (bass), Flo (violin) and JY (drums, vocals), the band forged its identity on American roads: an album written and recorded in 2022 while immersed in the roots of dark country, a first US tour in 2023, then the Return to the Roots Tour in 2025.
