"John Doe", the sixth track from the album "A FIRE INSIDE", draws its inspiration from a literary and introspective approach. The song, composed by Eva (the band’s bassist), is rooted in the universe of "The Year of Magical Thinking", the cult work by American novelist Joan Didion. The creative spark was ignited after Eva discovered the book, which was mentioned in an interview with Kazu, a member of the band Blonde Redhead.

Musically, the track stands out with its three-movement structure, each reflecting a distinct atmosphere. The first, serene, evokes daily life and its routines. The second, more tormented, illustrates life’s trials and tumults. Finally, the third, explosive, symbolizes a form of rupture or conclusion, while the final notes leave room for a glimmer of hope.

Recording "John Doe" was a challenge for the band, often described as the most complex track to finalize. It was Matthieu, the sound engineer at QuietNoiseInc studio, who helped them overcome the impasse by guiding them toward simplifying the structure and refocusing their energy on the essentials.

Since its release, the song has resonated deeply with fans. Notably, the official music video is set to drop in mid-November.

About the Band

Formed in 2023 from the still-smoldering ashes of the project DONE, the Bordeaux-based trio GLIITCH delivers raw, generous noise-rock that hits the mark with its unpolished phrasing, imposing guitars, and massive rhythms. Do it yourself. Do it your way. Be yourself.

Inspired by the principles of iconic artists like Metz, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, and Shellac, the band explores the possibilities of electric sound with passion and sincerity. Their music is visceral, rough, and devilishly moving. In just two years, GLIITCH has captivated promoters with its magnetic aura. From Bordeaux Rock to Krakatoa, and opening for Rendez-Vous, the trio has quickly conquered some of the region’s finest stages.

Following this meteoric rise, GLIITCH released its debut EP, "A Fire Inside", on May 23, 2025, via Araki Records, Pogo Records, After-Before, and QuixoteRPM. The EP was recorded entirely live at QuietNoiseInc studio by Matthieu Courege. The band will hit the road in 2026 before returning to the studio to work on a new album.
