Garonna - Fire (2026)
Like most of Garonna’s songs, Fire was born on an acoustic guitar, before being dressed up with the arrangements that turned it into an energetic rock track. It all started with a line that had been going round in the head of Tim, the band’s singer and bassist, for a while: “She was a Fleetwood Mac girl”. It refers to a girl who had made a big impression on him at the time, a Fleetwood Mac fan who had broken his heart a few weeks earlier.
The lyrics are packed with nods to that story: “She was my favorite groupie”, because she often came to the band’s gigs, once even with her mother (“…and even brought her mom”). Despite the underlying gloom, the message remains rather positive: she took him for a fool, but boy did she drive him crazy. And the chorus leaves the door ajar by asking a question: is it really over?
Musically, the trio wanted a simple, effective song that would get people moving and singing at gigs, hence an easy vocal hook in the chorus. A fast run of power chords, a melody designed for energy: the band describes it as a cross between Lenny Kravitz’s Fly Away and the Black Keys’ Lonely Boy. Released on 19 June 2026, Fire is now one of the songs that best represents Garonna: a rock song that gets you moving, accessible to everyone.
About the band
Garonna, formerly The Backseats Band, was founded in 2022 by Tim (vocals, bass) and Eloi (vocals, guitar), two friends from Bordeaux. The duo first played a few bars around the city in a mostly acoustic format and released several home-studio singles. In early 2026, Firmin joined them on drums, finally allowing them to take their songs to the stage.
Since then, the band has defined itself as a classic yet modern rock power trio, inspired by the biggest names in British and American rock, from the Beatles to the Rolling Stones, from The Police to Led Zeppelin, all the way to Lenny Kravitz. With half a dozen singles available on streaming platforms, Garonna has played many shows this year, in bars and venues alike, including Le Chaudron in Mérignac, with the ambition of sharing their music on stage with as many people as possible.
