DARK DOGS - Banzaï Godzilla (2026)

What if Godzilla no longer came just to flatten cities, but to settle scores on behalf of the planet? With Banzaï Godzilla, DARK DOGS takes hold of the most famous figure of Japanese monster cinema, a symbol born of the damage caused by human activity, to talk about ecology. Here, the creature avenges a mistreated nature and restores a balance that mankind has gradually broken: nature rising up and striking back at those who exploited it for too long.

Drawing on pop culture lets the band tackle the subject with a playful twist without losing any of its critical edge. Musically, the track relies on explosive production: heavy guitars, a powerful rhythm section and the energy typical of what the Bordeaux band calls “New Hard Rock”. The mood is sunny, powerful and unbridled, and the music follows the monster’s rise in power all the way to the final explosion.

Recorded at Dark Dogs Studio, mixed and mastered by Julien Vaugon, Banzaï Godzilla was released on 15 January 2026 alongside a music video. A blend of fantasy, humour and hard-hitting riffs, as a reminder that rock’n’roll can also have something to say.

About the band

Formed in Bordeaux in 2020, DARK DOGS is a five-piece rock band playing original songs and claiming to have invented “New Hard Rock”, a mix of old-school and modern sounds. Guitar-hero riffs, pounding drums, raging bass lines, vintage synths and catchy choruses: the band revives a wild and resolutely groovy 70s rock, influenced by punk rock, blues and funk, with a single mission: to save rock’n’roll.

After a debut EP in 2022 and a first album, Welcome to the Den, in 2024, the band released the singles Wash My Brain and Simple Man in 2025, followed by Banzaï Godzilla and a mini EP in 2026. With a renewed line-up since September 2024 (a new guitarist and a keyboard player), DARK DOGS has played more than 70 shows, including the Mios en fête festival in front of 10,000 people and Festival 666 in 2025.
