Charming Putos - The World You Choose (2026)
The World You Choose is about the world we are building, and the part we play in it. The lyrics target a society willing to sacrifice its authenticity for approval, and question how algorithms and the constant consumption of content end up shaping what we see, what we want and how we relate to others. The chorus asks a simple but uncomfortable question: is this really the world we choose? The song does not claim to answer it; instead it invites us to ask whether we choose freely or simply go with the flow.
Musically, the duo wanted to carry that message with a very melodic yet hard-hitting song. The calmer verses are built around a high, melodic voice, while the choruses burst in with heavy riffs and a more intense, raspy delivery; the bridge builds tension before returning to that mix of melody and distortion. The track also sums up the band’s approach: getting a big sound from just bass, vocals and drums. The bass is split into two signals, one for the low end and one for the high, distorted part, and everything is played live, with no guitars, sequences or loops.
Released on 9 October 2026, EP-1 is the first part of a trilogy. Its six tracks (Procrastination, Call Me, Venom, The World You Choose, Plastic Hearts and Outcome) were recorded, mixed and mastered by Esteban Varela Martínez at Estudio Subterráneo in Vigo; the artwork is by Samuel Otero Padín.
About the band
Charming Putos is an independent alternative rock duo from Vigo, Galicia, formed by Esteban Varela Martínez (bass, vocals, synth) and Samuel Otero Padín (drums). Their music blends grunge, punk, alternative rock and melodic hardcore, with heavy riffs, prominent vocal melodies and shifts in intensity from atmospheric to explosive. A sound engineer and producer who owns Estudio Subterráneo, Esteban wanted to play in a band again after a few years focused mainly on electronic music. He already knew Samuel, drummer with You Can’t Hide and Kings of the Beach, and the idea of a duo came from watching him play. Esteban brings the riffs, melodies and lyrics, deliberately leaving the rhythm part open so Samuel can add his own personality. Their influences include Death From Above 1979, Muse, Nirvana, Royal Blood, Turnstile, Queens of the Stone Age and NOFX.
