A Romance of Many Dimensions tells the story of a man living a life of loneliness, addiction and isolation. He only finds purpose and identity when he logs into his computer, where he sees himself as a robot lost in a vast digital landscape. His only friend is the crow from the game, who never speaks but is always there when he needs it. Logged off, he has nothing; logged in, he has a reason to be. The title, fittingly, borrows the subtitle of Flatland, Edwin Abbott’s novel about beings trapped in their own dimensions.

The vocabulary of code runs through the whole record, from the song titles (Linter, Operator, Null the System, If Else, Inheritence, Pixel Shader) to the lyrics: “Stuck inside of this screen”, Danny Sorrell sings on Operator, before dreaming on Null the System of being reprogrammed and reloading his mind. The album runs 56 minutes and is built around long pieces such as My Main Function, over eleven minutes, and UI, close to eight.

Danny Sorrell, who wrote and composed everything and handles vocals, guitars and keys, is joined by Graham Brown on drums and Sarah Bayley on vocals. John Mitchell (Arena, Frost*, Lonely Robot), with the band since its beginnings, mixed and mastered the album, plays bass throughout and contributes the guitar solo on closer Nested Scratch. Danny Sorrell says he went through some hard years, with mental health struggles and the death of his sister, and tried as always to channel them into his songwriting. The album came out digitally on 10 April 2026, then on CD on 8 May, on White Star Records.

About the band

A UK progressive and dark rock band, The Paradox Twin is led by singer-songwriter Danny Sorrell. The band made its name in 2018 with The Importance of Mr Bedlam, produced by John Mitchell, who brought it to White Star Records co-founder Chris Hillman and got the band signed to the label. The record was nominated by Prog Magazine before it was even released. Silence from Signals followed in 2021 to critical acclaim, and the band earned nominations at the Progressive Music Awards.
