SSB - Sloane Square Band - Studio Live Session (2025)

With Studio Live Session, SSB - Sloane Square Band makes the introductions. The band has overhauled its line-up, most notably with Bob Saliba on vocals, and chose to present it in live conditions: ten songs played together, recorded in several locations in spring and summer 2025, then mixed and mastered by Thierry Dagnicourt. The whole thing runs just under fifty minutes and comes out on the FTF-Music label, as a high-resolution download and on CD.

Thoughts, title track of the previous album, opens the session at over six minutes, followed by Born and Hiroshima. Along the way come Odd Love, Bag of Lies, Jane, My Father and Perfect World, written by guitarist Philippe Kalfon, before We Were closes the record. The songs are by founder Claude Segalin, and the nine-piece line-up, with Leina Vinx’s flute, Jules D’Angeli’s keyboards and backing vocals by Mallorie Arrue and Espérance Malbos, gives breadth to this Pink Floyd-minded rock.

Released on 8 October 2025, the record came with concerts announced in France and in London, with John Mitchell as a special guest, and served as a bridge to a new studio album announced for 2026.

About the band

The story begins in the ’70s with Sloane, the band of guitarist, singer and songwriter Claude Segalin, who wrote a rock opera, Guelf, in 1974 and performed it several times in concert across France. The band split in 1978. Forty years later, a meeting with one of his former bassists made Claude Segalin want to start again: he wrote new songs and brought the band back to life at a concert in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in June 2017. Sloane then became SSB - Sloane Square Band, and remains committed to the Ligue contre le cancer, the French cancer charity.

Then came Guelf in 2021, a nod to the early rock opera, recorded at Fabien Giordani’s FATLAB studios, and Thoughts in 2024, featuring Guy Pratt (Pink Floyd, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bryan Ferry), Joniece Jamison (Eurythmics, Elton John), Richard Groulx (Starmania) and the strings of the Orchestre national Avignon-Provence, with Steve Forward (Paul McCartney, Ray Charles) on mixing and mastering.

Line-up: Bob Saliba (vocals), Claude Segalin (songwriting, rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Philippe Kalfon (lead guitar), Alix Guglielmi (bass), Anthony Valenzuela (drums), Jules D’Angeli (keyboards), Leina Vinx (flute), Mallorie Arrue and Espérance Malbos (backing vocals).
