In early 2024, as Red Cloud were naturally heading into the studio to record their second album, another path opened up. Convinced that every song had what it takes to be a single, the band decided to release them one by one, each with its own music video. A way of going back to the roots of 1950s rock’n’roll, when artists only put out singles.

The challenge was a big one: every month, record, mix, master and shoot a video, for eight songs in total. Everything was done DIY and self-produced, and the adventure was shared as it happened on the band’s social media, including behind-the-scenes footage from the sessions and a making-of for each track. The first single, Naked Under My Breath, premiered on the Culture Box show on France 4 in January 2024, came out in June 2024; eight months later, the saga ended with Black Sunlight, in January 2025.

Once it was over, fans asked for a physical release. To stay true to the original idea, the band came up with an unusual way of presenting the whole thing: “We didn’t want to make an album out of these 8 songs. It’s a compilation of 8 singles.” Self-released on 19 September 2025 on digipak CD and streaming platforms, This Is Not An Album features Naked Under My Breath, The Pact, Maybe I’m Wrong, Black Sunlight, The Defects, Fire With Fire, For Those Who Died Dancing and Werewolf. To get into the record, the band recommends Naked Under My Breath, The Pact and Black Sunlight.

About the band

Formed in Paris in 2020, Red Cloud describe themselves as the “illegitimate offspring” of 70s classic rock, from Black Sabbath to Led Zeppelin by way of Deep Purple and AC/DC, while also looking towards today’s heavy rock scene (DeWolff, Monster Truck, Rival Sons). Sharp, blues-tinged riffs and songs built for the stage, all in the service of Roxane Sigre’s vocals, whose range brings to mind Janis Joplin or Grace Slick. While fully embracing their vintage influences, the quintet keep a modern outlook, both in their sound and in the themes of their songs.

A self-titled debut album came out in March 2023 and was well received by the specialist press (Rock&Folk, Guitar Part, Hard Force). In summer 2023, the band went back on the road with a new line-up and found a rockier identity and a rawer sound along the way. Now made up of Roxane Sigre (vocals), Rémi Bottriaux and Amy Prada (guitars), Maxime Mestres (bass) and Mano Cornet-Maltet (drums), Red Cloud have played all over France, from the Trabendo and the Supersonic in Paris to the Temps Machine in Tours, and are working on a third album due in June 2027.
