Karmamoi - Eternal Mistake (2026)
Eternal Mistake tells a love story, but not the one you expect: that of a human and a humanoid, two souls reaching across the boundaries of logic and flesh, searching for something real in a world built on code and imperfection. The album asks what happens when emotion meets reason, when empathy confronts design, and when the heart learns that even mistakes can be beautiful. Because maybe love itself is the eternal mistake, the one error we keep making because it reminds us we are alive.
“Eternal Mistake is about connection,” says drummer and composer Daniele Giovannoni. “It asks whether emotion can exist beyond biology, and whether mistakes, especially in love, are really mistakes at all. It is our most ambitious album so far, and it marks a change in the band’s sound without losing the identity that made the band recognisable.” Musically, the record blends sweeping orchestral passages and powerful guitar riffs into a modern progressive rock sound, with electronic textures and the band’s trademark cinematic atmosphere.
Thirteen tracks and just over an hour of music, from the spoken opening of The Regrets, voiced by Gabriele Giovannoni, and the single Lara Is Your Name, to the record’s two long pieces: Nothing But, over ten minutes with a guitar solo by Randy McStine, and Hero, on which Adam Holzman, keyboardist for Miles Davis and Steven Wilson, plays acoustic piano, electric piano and a Moog solo. Susanna Brigatti sings on We Are Going Home. Recorded in Milan and Rome between November 2024 and December 2025, mixed and mastered by Fabio Ferri at Millenium Audio Recording in Rome, the album was self-released on 17 April 2026 in high resolution, on CD and vinyl. The band points out that the music, lyrics, arrangements, mixing and artwork are AI-free.
About the band
Formed in Rome in 2008, Karmamoi set out from the start to reinterpret progressive rock with a modern edge, blending classic prog complexity with atmospheric textures, cinematic moods and emotionally driven songwriting. Over the years, the band has developed a recognisable sound marked by strong conceptual narratives and immersive arrangements, with music that explores introspection, human fragility and social themes.
Karmamoi have worked with respected musicians such as Adam Holzman, Randy McStine, Colin Edwin and Geoff Leigh. The current line-up is Daniele Giovannoni (drums, keyboards, backing vocals), Valerio Sgargi (vocals, keyboards, guitars), Alex Massari (guitars) and Alessandro Cefalì (bass). On stage, the band aims to match the intensity and depth of its studio recordings.
